As part of the 4C Group’s iNSight™ framework for enterprise data management, the iNSight™ Interconnect billing system is a logical extension of the Management Information System (MIS) and has specifically been designed to provide a flexible, scalable and cost-effective system to manage third party settlements for an ever evolving and dynamic telecommunications industry.
Interconnect billing is concerned with calculating the amounts to be paid to and received from each of the network operators using the infrastructure in order to connect the successful originating and termination of calls. iNSight™ processes events from the various communication service providers and stores them in a relational database, from which financial settlement invoices are generated.
The system supports multiple destinations such as incoming and outgoing legs. Operators will also have the ability to change tariffs in real-time or at a pre-scheduled time. Operational management is made easier with the availability of automated reports tracking time gaps in data delivery, error file handling and duplicate record checking. In addition, a number of reports are available to manage reconciliation of the settlement invoices between the various partners.
Least Cost Routing
Integral to the iNSight™ Interconnect billing system is a least cost routing capability. Least Cost Routing is the practice that finds the most inexpensive way to route phone calls. It is the process of analysing, selecting and directing the path of outbound and inbound communications traffic, depending on which path delivers the best rates. iNSight allows for reactive and proactive modes. In the reactive mode, the system re-rates calls using the actual routes and compares the costs to determine the cheapest routes. In the proactive mode, the least cost routes are determined using the pre-configured rates before new rates are being implemented.
